A new Code of Laws for cricket came into force on 1st October 2017. There will be presentations on the new Code during the winter of 2017/18 and these will be open to all umpires and scorers (regardless of whether they are ECB ACO members), captains, players etc.
A completely new suite of training courses for umpires has been prepared and this will be rolled out across the country early in 2018. The current Levels 1, 1A, 2 and 3 are to be replaced by Stages One, Two, Three and Four. Click here for all the available information about the new courses.
MCC has provided an “e-learning”, that is, an on line learning resource, that can be accessed by clicking here. This gives aspiring umpires – and anyone else interested in studying The Laws of Cricket – the chance to learn at their own pace. This resource is complemented by optional on line tests that can lead to the award of certificates of attainment. This will enable SACO to focus its face-to-face training on how to apply, in a practical sense, the Laws.
Use of the MCC on line resource is highly recommended to experienced umpires and to anyone intending to undertake any of SACO’s face-to-face training courses.
