Education & Training

The ACO is keen that all officials (Umpires and Scorers) can develop to their full potential.  To help achieve this the process of Educating and Training Umpires and Scorers has a number of aspects:

  • There are both E-learning and Face-to-Face components and options.
  • Acknowledgement of training is split into Attendance and Accreditation, each of which has a separate certification of completion.  The former being simply undertaking the training with no need to pass an examination, the latter being being evidence based and monitoring of practical performance.
  • Once accreditation has been achieved further development can be achieved with mentoring and performance monitoring.

MCC has provided an “e-learning” resource, that can be accessed by Clicking here which gives aspiring umpires – and anyone else interested in studying The Laws of Cricket – the chance to learn at their own pace.  This resource is complemented by optional on line tests that can lead to the award of certificates of attainment.
